The single most important thing to understand is that colour e-ink is muted, not vivid. It looks like colour print on slightly grey paper, not like a phone screen. Be honest about what you read. If you read mostly novels, a mono reader like the Paperwhite or Kobo Clara BW gives you sharper text for less money, and you will not miss colour. Colour earns its premium if you read comics, graphic novels, magazines, children's books, or highlight heavily in study material. For plain prose, mono is still the smarter buy.
